#Roles

On brainko.com, users can select their own roles when opening the app for the first time:

  • Students will see the "Join Class" option.
  • Teachers will see the "Create Class" option.
  • Principals will see the "Create School" option.

Roles

There are two cases when a user might need to change their role:

  • If the user accidentally selected the wrong role initially.
  • If the user is a teacher in some classes, and a student in other classes (e.g., in college).

To change your role, simply click on your profile picture and click "Switch role":

#Saved Posts

If you teach several classes the same course material, you can use the "Saved Posts" feature to save important posts and re-use them across several classes.

Note: This only works across classes sharing the same course material!

#Post Templates

If you post lesson summaries on the class feed, you may find yourself repeating the same post structure over and over. For example:

To make the process easier & more efficient, consider creating a Post Template by clicking the ⋯ under the new post text field:

#Grading Essays

Brainko supports Open Question and Essay question types.

When you add an essay item, students can submit their answer by typing their essay in the text box, or by taking a picture with their phone by clicking on the image icon to attach any image.

When students submit their essays, you can see these by opening the Answers tab and clicking on the relevant question number in the results table.

You can then fill out the assessment form you created, and add comments.

#Annotating Images

When grading an essay, you can click the "Copy student answer" button to copy the student essay images into the "Teacher comments" box.

You can then click on an image and click the "draw" icon to annotate it and add comments or markings on top of it.

#Submitting Assessment

Similarly to Essay questions, you can add Assessment items where students do not submit any answers, but rather you can use this item to submit personalized assessment for each student.

You can use this to submit online assessment for a paper exam, or semester assessment, etc.
